Increasing the Battery Life of Your iPhone

The iPhone uses a fairly standard, rechargeable lithium-ion battery. However, it is advisable that you take real good care of this battery because it is not easily removable. Only an expert can replace this and it will cost you a sizeable amount in doing so. If you take good care of the iPhone battery, chances that you will be able to extend its life for longer. If you take proper care of your device, most iPhone batteries last for a few years. However, by taking some extra precautions, you can ensure that your battery lasts for just that much longer. Here are a few practical tips that will help you increase the battery life of an iPhone.

· If you always keep your wireless connectivity on, the device will forever be searching for the closest hot spots, checking your emails, checking for updates and so on. All this activity drains the battery even if you are not really using the iPhone. Try to switch off the wireless connectivity when you are not using the device.
· Bluetooth connectivity has the same problem as a Wi-Fi. Again if you are not really using the service, you should just switch off the Bluetooth connectivity.

· The Auto-Brightness feature in the iPhone ensures that the brightness of the phone is adjusted depending on the surroundings. For this purpose, the device uses the camera to understand the lighting conditions outside and then adjust the brightness. For example, it is fairly dark outside, the iPhone automatically is made less bright. This again saves a lot of battery power.

· Heat can be a major concern for the iPhone battery, making it harder to get charged and at times, even destroying it due to the intense ionization. Never carry your phone in a place where there is too much heat like in direct sunlight or inside a car during a sunny day. If you are taking the iPhone in a carrying case, you should pull out the device before you start to charge it as it gets fairly warm while charging and inside the carrying case, there is no place for the heat to escape.

· Try not to charge your iPhone in your car. Vehicle chargers are meant to allow you to charge your iPhone very quickly but doing so often is not good for the battery. Of course, if you are on your way to work, find that your iPhone is not charged and are in a real fix, you may use the vehicle charger. But use an ordinary wall-charger to get the most out of your iPhone battery.

· If you are going to be listening to songs for many hours a day on your iPhone, you will be using up a significant amount of battery power. Limit listening to music on your iPhone when you are outside and you have no other device to listen to music on. While at home, if you would like to play some music, you are better off using your music system or MP3 player instead.
